Dracula (Adam Sandler) is surprisingly like most parents, he worries and wants only safety for his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez). So with the dreaded humans roving about the world, he decides to build a safe place for all monsters. And with that, Hotel Transylvania is born.
As the years rolled by, business boomed and safety hit an all-time high. Unfortunately, some things want to change and a time comes when children want to leave the nest. So after 100 years, the resident vampire teenager decides to spread her wings (aware of the Pun). Only during her first outing she discovers that humans are mean and just as deadly as her father warned. So she returns home with her dreams crushed, while unbeknownst to Mavis, her father is thrilled.
Thrilled that is, until a backpacking teenage human boy (Andy Samberg) finds the hotel and bumps into Dracula's daughter. From there on, it’s keep daughter away and don't let the scary human frighten the guests.
If truth be told, I've had issues with some of Sandler's last animated features. Luckily, this movie was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky the man who created cartoons like Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack. He takes his style and storytelling and helps tone down the comedy by tempering it with heartfelt emotion and story. This is a definite family movie for the Halloween season this year!
